Our Mission
The Peter Cohen Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to accelerating cures for neurodegenerative diseases by focusing first on the people affected rather than the disease label.
Our Story
Our work began with ALS through EverythingALS, inspired by Peter Cohen's experience with the disease.
As we engaged with more patients and families, we found that diagnoses and symptoms often crossed traditional disease boundaries.
Some individuals initially diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease were later diagnosed with ALS, while others with ALS developed cognitive and behavioral changes associated with frontotemporal degeneration.
These experiences reinforced that neurodegenerative diseases, while biologically distinct, can share underlying mechanisms and clinical features.
